As Anshu landed at Noi Bai Airport, she felt a surge of excitement coursing through her veins. Armed with her backpack, she set out to conquer the bustling streets of Hanoi. With just 40,000 VND (approximately $2) , she hopped on a Bus no. 86 to the Old Quarter of Hoan Kiem.

The journey was a whirlwind of sights and sounds, with Anshu eagerly soaking in the vibrant energy of the city. Upon arrival in the Old Quarter, she was greeted by a maze of narrow alleys, bustling markets, and ancient temples. Despite the chaos, she felt a sense of serenity wash over her as she wandered through the historic streets.

Determined to stretch her budget, Anshu sought out accommodation in one of the area’s many hostels. For a mere 3-4 dollars a day, she found a cozy bunk bed in a vibrant hostel filled with fellow travelers from around the globe. With new friends by her side, Anshu set out to explore the hidden gems of the Old Quarter.

Armed with a map and a sense of adventure, she embarked on a self-guided walking tour of the Old Quarter. From the majestic Hoan Kiem Lake to the bustling Dong Xuan Market.

She soaked in the sights and sounds of Hanoi’s historic district at her own pace. With each step, she uncovered hidden alleyways adorned with colorful lanterns and stumbled upon quaint cafes serving steaming bowls of pho.

Determined to see more of what Hanoi had to offer, she ventured beyond the confines of the Old Quarter. She visited the iconic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where she paid her respects to the revered leader of Vietnam. She then explored the tranquil grounds of the Temple of Literature, marveling at the ancient architecture and serene beauty of the surroundings.

As the sun began to set, Anshu found herself drawn to the lively weekend festivities at Hoan Kiem Lake. The air was filled with music and laughter as locals and tourists alike gathered to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. With a cold beer in hand, Anshu joined in the festivities, reveling in the freedom to drink and dance beneath the stars.
